DEBORAH SISSMAN STUDIO ARTS - EVE KATZMAN  The arts are not only part of Eve's life, but her family’s as well, and they have all volunteered their musical and visual artistic talents to the Arts Council. As part of a theatre company, Eve creates set pieces and props for the productions. As a volunteer at New Bridge Medical Center, she brings patients together to do art projects. When she attends the University of Rochester this fall, she she'll be taking classes in various fields before she commits to a major, but fully intends to pursue education in Visual arts, no matter what!

WILL WOOD PERFORMING ARTS - ADIR WAXMAN - His submitted performance of Morceau de concert Op. 94 for horn and piano by Camille Saint-Saëns made it clear that Adir's talent would take him places. This future Wolverine was already part of the NY Youth Symphony Orchestra, Woodwind Quintet (performing charity concerts around NYC) and the Bravo Brass choir. This summer, he'll be  putting in 3+ hours a day at the iconic Tanglewood music festival, rehearsing with orchestra and chamber music ensembles, and practicing. His dream of performing in a professional orchestra takes its next step at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he plans to major in French Horn Performance.

PictureEli Bashan
PHOTOGRAPHY - ELI BASHAN - knows that great pictures can motivate, and his perspectives are as varied as his subjects,  evident in his thought-provoking work at the Glen Rock Library’s Gallery, his role as a yearbook photographer, his ability to help sell sneakers and clothing on Instagram, and his floral photos on display at Perry’s. Great pictures can also help sell homes, which will help him in his career goal – in real estate! He plans to major in International Business & Finance at The University of Tampa.

PictureMelina McAllister
ARTS CAREER - MELINA McALLISTER - had already learned to pour emotion into her artwork, but in her sophomore year, found a new language that used technology, design, color, type and layout to tell stories through Graphic Design. This translated into Social Media campaigns – photographing jewelry, and the Door Project – that transformed the senior hallway at GRHS into a living gallery of historic figures and quotes. No typical poster assignments for this gal! She’s about making things new and fresh, like this year’s yearbook, which boasts inventive color palettes and layouts she cultivated as editor in chief. This bold mindset will certainly help her in graphic design and marketing, a career goal she will pursue at Ohio State University.

PictureEden Hamlin
BARRY RUBINOW FILMMAKING - EDEN HAMLIN - admittedly has skeletons in her closet! Or maybe that’s her family’s closet, or their decorative traditions that show a long-term love for Halloween, as depicted in her affectionately recorded short film submission. Eden was a producer’s assistant for the kids’ TV show Wonderama and part of a group at Montclair State’s Pre-College Film Program that wrote, produced, and edited a five-minute short film – in just a week! She sees herself working as an audio engineer in the film industry and plans to pursue a major in Film and Media at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
