Artists of the Boro Calendar
The back cover, "Rock Road Door" by Mark Oberndorf, was an “instant idea for a painting” says Mark, who noticed the door while in his car, driving home from Saddle River Park.
“I loved the primary colors of it. It really was a spur of the moment inspiration." A full-time professional artist since 1995, Mark has sold every painting he’s done for the past nine years running. Rock Road Door was sold to a collector a few years ago. “I had no choice about how I do this type of painting,” Mark says. His style of using the old master technique of "fat over lean," washes of turpentine-thinned paint, followed by more thickly applied layers, “just came to me, like handwriting.” Although he’s never lived in Glen Rock, Mark, a Wyckoff resident, visits often. His anthology of paintings includes a town landmark, Little Joe and John’s barber shop.
