  • Short Films & Short Stories: A Night with Paul Stekler and Michael Fine (9/10/2025) — ACGR will present an evening of three short film screenings and three short story readings by returning Glen Rock natives and lifelong friends Paul Stekler and Michael Fine on Friday, October 17.
  • Arts Council and Thielke Arboretum collaborate once again on Photography Exhibition this Fall (9/8/2025) — In support of the Arts, the Arboretum, and Photography, the "Snapshot in Time" exhibit on September 26-28 will showcase exemplary photography by 13 talented local residents.
  • New event - Music Fest 2025 set for September 28 on Boro Hall Lawn (7/24/2025) — This all-day event celebrates the local music scene around Glen Rock and includes many members and supporters, providing an opportunity for musicians to perform onstage throughout the day. Big tent, rain or shine!
  • Songwriting Workshops for all aspiring Bergen County songwriters  (7/18/2025) — Songwriters, lyricists and composers are invited to share their "works in progress" in a structured and supportive environment. Once a month on Thursday evenings at the Glen Rock Annex. 
  • Music Jam sessions are back! 2025-26 schedule (7/18/2025) — Bring your favorite acoustic instrument and join in as we collaborate on songs and performance. Once a month on Monday evenings at the Glen Rock Annex. 
  • Monthly Plein Air Sunday Mornings are Returning This Summer (6/5/2025) — Painting in the open air (en plein air) will be held June through October. Bring your art materials and create with other Glen Rock artists from preset vantage points/locations in or near Glen Rock.
  • Second Annual Verse & Visuals "The Art of The Poem" (2/24/2025) —  Selected poems, written by Glen Rock 5th graders as well as some talented local adults, are each matched with a painting, drawing, photo or mixed media work created by local artists. A reception, open to the public, is scheduled for Sunday, April 6.   
  • ACGR Presents Thomas Edison Film Festival on March 21 (2/12/2025)   — This year's selection of award-winning short films will focus on animation, narrative, experimental, documentary and screen dance.
  • Art Materials Swap is back for an encore in 2025 (12/20/2024) — ACGR is hosting its second Swap on Saturday, February 22, based on the tremendous response to last year’s event – a swap meet for art supplies. Donations Do's & Don'ts
  • “Open Studio” Fall/Winter Drawing Sessions Announced (10/9/2024)   — Artists of any level are invited to join others for monthly drawing studio time at the Glen Rock Public Library, November through March.
  • Artistic expression takes center stage at Arts Fest 2024 – September 28 (9/4/24) — Shop, listen to music, enjoy a bite, kid’s art activity all on Glen Rock's Borough Hall Lawn
  • Tickets for "Enchanted" Go on Sale to General Public September 23 (9/3/2024) — Thielke Arboretum comes alive with fairytale characters on Oct 19 for the 3rd annual theater-in-the-woods experience for young children. Hosted by ACGR and Porch Light, this fan favorite features “The Great Woodland Games” as 2024's theme.
  • Plein Air 2024 Summer schedule announced (5/17/2024) — ACGR's Plein Air Sunday Mornings returns this summer for monthly outdoor painting and drawing. 
  • ACGR Celebrates World Collage Day (5/17/2024) — A fun, hands-on art experience to explore the art of "collage" was held by Arts Council on World Collage Day,
  • Memorabilia drawing session at GR Historical Society (5/17/2024) —  In a new partnership with the Society, Arts Council held a sketching session at the Museum at the Station on Rock Rd. Some of the drawings will be printed as postcards.
  • Storefront Windows are a Canvas for “Rock Road In Bloom”  (5/10/2024) — 19 participating businesses positively demonstrated their community involvement and appreciation of the arts by taking part in this annual downtown beautification event.
  • Glen Rock Teen Artists Celebrate Earth Day (4/22/2024) — Glen Rock teen artists created banners to line Rock Road in a challenge organized by ACGR member and GRHS Class of 2017 alum Sydney Mangaroo.
  • "Verse & Visuals, The Art of the Poem" On View Starting April 4   (3/11/2024) — This celebration of National Poetry Month, in partnership with Friends of the Glen Rock Public Library, features original poems by nine writers of all ages - the centerpiece of a month-long exhibition of eye-catching and thought-provoking layouts.
  • ​5th Annual Short Films Festival presented in partnership with Thomas Edison Film Festival (2/27/2024) — This year's selection of award-winning, independent short films  focus on animation, documentary, narrative and screendance.

  • Art Materials Swap (1/29/2024) — The old saying, “One man's trash is another man's treasure,” is the basis for the ACGR Art Materials Swap, an opportunity to donate items in usable condition for others to obtain – a March 16 swap meet for art supplies.
  • “Open Studio” Drawing Opportunities this Winter (1/22/2024) — Artists of any level are invited to join others for bi-monthly drawing studio time at the Glen Rock Public Library, now through April.
  • "Think Tank for Creatives" set for January 10 (12/11/2023) — ACGR will  host a special give-and-take discussion among interested participants about the business side of being an artist.
  • Focus on the Artist Kicks Off 2024 with "Open Studio" on January 7 (11/28/2023) — Kick off the new year by resolving to get back to your art. Artists of any level are invited to Arts Council's “Open Studio drawing session twice a month.
  • Holiday Hoopla is Back (11/1/2023) — Ready for the holidays? Eighteen Glen Rock artists and artisans – all members of the Arts Council of Glen Rock – will lend a hand, offering their handiwork creations for sale as perfect holiday gifts at this year’s ACGR Holiday Hoopla on Tuesday, December 5, at the Glen Rock Inn. Save the date!

  • "Enchanted" Tickets on Sale Starting September 8 (8/28/2023) — The woods of Thielke Arboretum will be alive with fairytale characters once again as Arts Council and Porch Light's youth performance troupe offer an enchanting live theater-in-the-woods experience for young children this October. 
  • ARTS FEST Roster of Participants Announced (8/7/2023) — A variety of talented members, newcomers, artists, artisans and musicians will keep the day packed with entertainment and FUN.
  • ARTS FEST 2023 - Artists and a Full Day of Music (7/11/2023) — Artists, artisans and makers, and musical groups/soloists will participate on Sat., September 9, in this community-focused, curated art event that highlights the artistic talent of ACGR members and supporters - with an opportunity to show and sell their creations.
  • ​Two fun events planned for July 2023 (6/20/2023) — Join us for an encore flash mob dance performance in GR's July 4 parade, and for painting en plein air at Saddle River Park on July 30. The public is also reminded that our annual meeting is scheduled for June 28 at the Glen Rock Public Library.
  • Announcing “ARTS FEST 2023” (6/5/2023) — Calling for applications from member artists and artisans! This 3rd annual Arts Fest, set for Saturday, September 9 (rain date Sunday, September 10), is an opportunity for the community to celebrate and recognize the role that the arts play in our lives.
  • Rock Road Has Bloomed (5/22/2023) — with the assistance of 30 Glen Rockers who painted storefront windows. Store owners volunteered their windows as palettes to make this the most ambitious Arts Council of Glen Rock “Paint the Town” event to date. For photos, see our "Event Recap" below.
  • Photography Exhibit Collaboration: "Capture the Spirit"  (4/27/23) — Arts Council and the Friends of the Arboretum have joined together to stage a first-time event to support the Arts, the Arboretum, and Photography in Glen Rock. 
  • "Emerging Artist Award" for GRHS Seniors (4/12/23) — Arts Council is proud to recognize three graduating Glen Rock HS seniors with a $250 Emerging Artist Award presented to each student. Applications accepted through May 5.
  • "Rock Road in Bloom" Spring Window Theme for Storefronts (3/1/23)  — Rock Road businesses are once again offering their storefronts as a canvas for Arts Council creativity, bringing art and poetry to the downtown this spring.
  • Plein Air Sunday Mornings (3/1/23) — Arts Council has launched a new event for members - painting in the open air during three Sundays this spring 2023.​​
  • ​​4th Annual Short Films Festival in Conjunction with Thomas Edison Film Festival (2/16/23) — The six films included a variety of genres, followed by a Q&A with animator Candy Kugel on Saturday evening, March 4.
