June 1  Pride in the Park

Picture

The Glen Rock Pride Committee promotes awareness and celebrates the mission of inclusion for LGBTQ citizens of Glen Rock and beyond by planning and executing the annual Rainbow Flag-Raising ceremony at Wilde Memorial Park on June 1 each year.

Following the ceremony, Pride in the Park featured music by DJ Joe Rush, rainbow face painting and an Allyship gallery of GRHS poetry and art (sponsored by ACGR).  ACGR's Alison Bloomfield coordinated with GRHS faculty* to make this happen.

Citizens were invited to bring a picnic lunch, camping chairs and blankets, and a celebratory attitude!

* Thank you to Pat Mahoney, Troy Kroft and Nicole Rusin
Caroline Geoghegan read her poem on Allyship, "Do Not Continue Your Day." Click to read.
The event featured the work of published authors.
We also displayed the work of student artists... with pride ;-)
Alex Vincenti's poem, "We are Allies," was selected to be read at Pride Day. Click to read.
Adam Dietrich, GRHS Class of '19, was inspired by Maya Angelou's poem "Still I Rise."
